I've heard that different computers print to the same printer much differently. And the USB cable, along with the quality of the power supply, and the version of the driver one uses, and the number of processes running in the background, along with many other computer-related configurations, can have a dramatic "night and day" difference between the quality of printouts!
In fact, in my testing, I've found that a Windows PC, running 64-bit Windows 7 (Home, not Professional!) prints far better than any Macintosh. I've created a stand-alone print-only sever-style PC just for printing, and the results are simply stunning!
