Yes, possibly. I am just speculating because I haven't built such a device. It is also possible that more frequent access to the memory that there already is could be beneficial too (see next thought).

I have this thought (untested) that choosing an architecture that keeps the power supply busses at a constant level would be beneficial. What CPU arch. and memory etc. would have to be matched to the software being run...tricky outside a proper development "lab".

This is assuming one buys into the minimalist philosophy, and the Touch-like device is merely an interface unit (to the "PC" brain) that doesn't have to do anything smart at all. Simple and clean are more likely to lead to audio satisfaction.
