Home Computer Audio Asylum

Music servers and other computer based digital audio technologies.

WOA WOA WOA there. now STOP the CAR.

This is AUDIOASYLUM.com.

Some here have already professed to using music as test signals!! ;)

No but really, have you not opened purposed built CDP's with their special power supplies (up to and including battery operated) and generous board layouts and tactical component layout and spacing? And star grounding? And.... and....

There is nothing "if it sounds good do it" about many of these designs. Much of the "knowledge" is methodology copied from one guru to the next and offered as definitive proof of superior performance. Read the ad copy if you don't believe me. All of the special things they do in a specialized piece of high-end audio gear - from power supply caps to the one-piece extruded aluminum chassis - are supposed to cumulatively lead to better sound.

If we apply ANY of this "technology" to the computer audio system we're either facing either conflicts or paradigms shifts depending on where you sit on the "pessimist / optimist continuum".

Cheers,
Presto
