Home Computer Audio Asylum

Music servers and other computer based digital audio technologies.

You missed my point. Entirely.

The point was:

If they are surfing the net, facebooking, tweeting, chatting, gaming and doing all that on a wireless network, they're in a catch-22 situation.

One would never buy a CD PLAYER that does all that stuff and expect it to still be audiophile approved. And if one had such a swiss army knife mid-fi player, would they bother modding it?

Same logic applies to computer audio. If one is only doing playback (as they should be, technically) then minimization is practical. But if one is trying to have "family/work PC and audio server" in the same box, I think they should hand in their audiophile card and stop.

It's like using a 7.2 channel HDMI home theatre receiver for 2-channel listening and then putting an expensive power cord on it.

That kind of logic, to me, is plain faulty.

Cheers,
Presto
