I use a HagUSB to DAC-1, and a Terratec Universe soundcard via tos to the same DAC-1.I also have an aegophile, vanilla usb -> tos, Pro-hifi link, EMU 0404, and various firewire to spdif.
They all sound different.
HagUSB is the pick of the bunch - plus no kmixer bitrate conversion.
Firewire doesn't like to share irq with dvd drive, 0404 won't do digital i/o without asio.
