Lossless means lossless in terms of data content!
It doesn't really say or mean - lossless sound quality!!Flac playback means, additional proccessing time, latency and more buffering asf in the system. That's e.g. the same with realtime sample rate converters. All that usually leads to lower sound quality in an audiophile environment!
If you want to use the term "audiophile playback" I'd think twice how to run it!
It'll of course heavily depend on how much audiophile your system and your soundcard/DAC in particular really are!!
Just try it and make up your own mind before you start ripping hundred of CDs! I stay with "uncompressed lossless". That's for sure.
Storage capacity is obviously not an issue any longer!BTW, before I forget:
Perhaps somebody can explain, at what point Itunes entered the "audiophile" arena!?Cheers
