Re: For the audiophiles looking for convenience?

iTunes running on a Mac is the height of convenience.

#1 - iTunes integrates all o fthe activities associated with computer playback. Ripping, tagging, file management, playlists is seamless. Less to learn, less to do, less to make "talk to each other"...

#2 - Because the iPod is such a high volume product (35M+ and counting) and iTunes Store is important to Apple, you have a worldclass team of developers at Apple constantly refining the product; and many commercial developers looking to exploit it. Contrast this to freeware like EAC

#3 - A single iTunes library will work with iTunes (say a USB DAC), the iPod, Airport Express and products like the SLIM Squeezebox and Transporter. Because Apple is the market leader, anyone entering the market will most likely ensure that their offering is compatible with iTunes.

Yes, Apple Lossless has a lot of advantages and no real disadvantages.

Yes, at the moment iTunes runs better under Mac then Windows - have not seen anything about Vista yet...

In short if convenience is the theme, its a no brainer with no compromises... and how often does that happen?
