Have just built a very quiet PC and now annoyed that the DVD-CD player makes the normal jet engine sound for a while, sometimes calms down, but on classical music it is just too much even in my phones. I assume this is fan noise of some kind. Never understood this power-fan spiking. My DVD-CD Burner is Samsung 16x maybe a few months old, internal. This is just on playing, all I want is a CD-ROM that can play music without the hummmmmmm and whooosh! Will a USB DVD_RW with a seperate power supply fit the bill or is that just as noisy?
Also has anyone ever seen a standalone CD player that can connect to the internet or at least get track info that way? I like getting all my track info, I just would like to have playback it minus the noise.
Pete
