Putting cheaters/ground lifts on the power cords is more of a fix than a "band-aid". Ground loops happen when there are multiple paths to ground, and currents can occur in those loops/circuits. So the trick is to eliminate paths to ground. Lifting grounds at the a/c plug is one way to do that. How do you know its a ground loop? Could it be a shielding issue?
