Re: Anyone using a UMPC as an interface/remote control?

Thanks Steve.

Not sure I understand why USB would be a problem. If I understand what I've been reading if I had all my music sitting on a PC in my listening room then one way of playing that (without dropouts that I've read can be a problem with wireless streaming) is to use some kind of software such as iTunes or foobar and that the music could stream out of the PC box (no sound card even necessary), run over USB and into a USB DAC. If that's workable then all I'm trying to do is get the PC gear out of the listening room and use the UMPC as a window onto that remote PC.

Not sure what you mean by administrative tool, but I guess the Remote Desktop capability built into Windows XP is an administrative tool. From what I understand once you set it up it allows you to interface with a remote computer on your LAN via a second computer, which in my case would be the UMPC.

Am I missing something?
