Using an Intel Mac Mini's optical audio to a Lavry DA-10 and there is a major difference from the setup in the Positive Feedback. In that setup they are using a mac mini with a cheap probably typical fiber optical interconnect (Belden) that goes for less than $20.

A quality glass tosslink by Sonicwave goes for $60 and makes a qualitative difference. Also this person in the discussion of his system is using a Benchmark DAC-1.

Neither the setup nor the Benchmark DAC-1 compares favorable to a Lavry DA-10.

I've tested my setup with the mac mini/Lavry combination with my TWICE MODDED Sony 777ES SACD player. If anything the mac mini/Lavry has a touch more dynamics but it's pretty much impossible to tell any difference doing a comparison of the same source material and switching the preamp from one to another.

Does my Sony 777ES with all its mods and clock upgrades suffer from jitter problems?

As Penelope would say, "I dun thnk so."
