Edward - Thanks for the advice. Indeed the QuickTime Preferences appear to have mostly fixed the problem after a lot of playing around with them - Specifically setting the output to mono, the size & rate to 16bit / 32khz, and unchecking the Safe Mode.The speakers will still revert back to the static/reverb sound on itunes if I try to use other programs like Windows Media before opening itunes, but restarting the computer fixes this. Still a bit confused as to why this is happening, but it's much better than before when the sound was NEVER being processed appropriately!
