Presto,Yes RME or Lynx would work fine for seperate digital output. Actually even the analog out's not bad as long as you warm it up somewhere else.
The problem with DTS and computers is that they are streaming right from content. I don't know of any way to say do your xover thing then to integrate it back into a single DTS stream. So I think that is out.
I do have somewhere a simple bus powered USB->SPDIF convertor. I kinda designed it in a couple hours. Not really what I would call stellar stuff.
Anyway... just some thoughts for your obcession.
