The current version of iTunes has no facility to set the read offsets for the particular drive in use, and my experience (using iTunes on Windows) has been that rips are definitely not perfect. Comparing iTunes rips on all 3 drives I have against rips using a variety of other programs (dbPowerAmp, EAC (both with AccurateRip) and Plextools), every one of the iTunes rips show bitwise differences. Rips using the other programs are all identical regardless of the drive used. Perhaps on Macs the offsets are already known and baked into iTunes so there are no issues, but I couldn't say. At any rate, Apple definitely doesn't have it all going with respect to accurate ripping.
