A friend purchased a small cassette tape deck, which fits in one of the 5+inch bays on his computer tower. It is called a "Plus Deck 2-C", and it comes with its own set of transcription programming. Unfortunately, the results have been less than stellar. So far he has transcribed a set of 6 Beethoven tapes into digital WAV files, which sit on the hard drive. It works, but when he plays back the digital copy, it distorts on all the loudest, most symphonic passages. Maybe he is trying to record at too high a level, I don't know. But before he tries any more transcriptions with that Plus Deck 2 software, he thought he would sample the competition. Sooner or later something ought to work. Also is there is an inexpensive, stand-alone, cassette-to CD recording device on the market
