I think that it would be useful to know the previous condition of the computer, as it is not very clear if you just picked up this machine, or if you had it running fine for a while.

As mentioned in previous posts, a number of things can cause the type of problem you are experiencing. It could be your cpu overheating due to a failed fan or clogged heatsink, bad drivers, or perhaps bad memory. If the system was running fine prior to the addition of the wifi card, then it is probable that there is a driver or resource conflict with your pre-existing setup. Perhaps you could try the wifi card in another pci slot, or remove it altogether to see if the problem still occurs.
