Re: Vibration Control for Importing Cds

I did quite some testing on Ripping CDs.

I applied all kind of tweaks to the CD itself and the CDROM drive.

As expected - It didn't generate any different results!

It's like mentioned earlier. It is a bit perfect data transfer.
The question remains, if that what the drive reads are the correct data!

Accurate rip etc. to me do not very much support here, when it comes to checksum comparisons.

Still it is good to have the source, the CD surface itself, in a good shape to avoid faults.

It is also advisable to have a proper audio setup for your PC to avoid
clicks etc.

I compared different rippers. EAC and JRMC to name the ones known for good results.
If you rip in secure mode with the lowest possible speed, you'll have good results.
JRMC is not working with write-offsets and produces same quality as EAC.
I couldn't figure out any differences - bit-wise. When it comes to tagging etc., It'll be a matter of taste.

There is only one thing which need to be considered.

The drives itself!

I had quite different results when ripping from an external USB CDROM
compared to the internal CDROM.
I can't tell yet, which sounds better.
My external drive is supposed to be better.

Both rippers mentioned above came up with the same different results for each of the tested drives!
