Hi there. Not sure about the implementation unfortunately. I am not that clued up on the technical stuff though, so perhaps the specs page of the Edirol may have some pertinent info? I have added the link to that page. It says: Digital output (Optical type) conforms to IEC60958 consumer format - not sure it that makes any difference.
