iTunes + Multiplugin + ALAC?

Is it true that this does not work or that I should not expect it to? In order to use the Multiplugin adapter with iTunes do I need to be playing a file format in iTunes that Foobar can use natively? ie. one other than ALAC?

I am using iTunes 7 with the newest version of Multiplugin and Foobar2000 9.4. Everything looks dandy with no errors. It looks like iTunes is playing but I get no output. I am using ASIO4ALL with my Scott Nixon USB DAC. Foobar plays by itself very nicely using ASIO4ALL but I really love the frontend and convenience of iTunes.

Any ideas?
