So I have been reading.. and reading.. and I do not see an easy solution to my requirements. Specifically:1. I want a lossless format with full metadata support. FLAC or ALAC seem to be the choices.
2. I want crossfeed support on playback. foobar seems the best choice here. It supports FLAC, but not ALAC (well, not well).
3. I want iTunes/iPod integration. It support ALAC, and not FLAC.From what I can tell, I want to use iTunes with the foobar plugin. However, I assume with this I do not have ALAC support, but do have FLAC support. However, FLAC will not play on the iPod. Alternative is to enable ALAC support in foobar, but I hear that is very buggy.
Anyone have any recommendations? If I go to FLAC, is there a convenient way for the iPod to rip FLAC to ALAC on the fly as part of transferring down to the iPod?
Thx a lot.
