I have upgraded Itunes to the latest 7.01 version and got unpleasant surprise - ripping speed is horrible. With Itunes 6 it was possible to rip both WAV and apple lossless at any speed drive supports, now, WAV rips at 1-3x and lossless at unbelievable 0.2x-0.3x.Something is wrong with encoder.
I did some googling after the fact and found the similar complaints on other forums.
Then I tried to uninstall Itunes 7, clean up the registry and install Itunes6 again, but to no avail. Once you install version 7 you can not go back.
Hopefully, Apple will fix this soon, otherwise the last resort is to reformat drive and install windows again.
If anyone has other solution, I am anxious to learn.
In any case, make informed decision before you upgrade to 7.01
