I think most of them will let you do this (when you plug it into the computer it shows up as a storage device). Some (like the iPod) probably try to hide this feature, because they want you to use their software interface for adding music. Others, like my old Archos, make it very obvious (since the way you add music to them is by dragging files manually onto them as if they are just another hard drive in your system).
