Today at a hifi gathering in Copenhagen I heard a massively hifi system being run off a harddisk with an AU 24 SPDIF cable joining a very standard spdif port on a no-name PC to an astronomically-priced DAC and then.....out some S2 speakers bigger than that Chinese basketball star.
It sounded lovely.
I have no idea what sound card he had for the SPDIF. Neither did the dealer.
End of story. I don't need a trasnport for my DAC, but send money for the cable, anyway!
