Chris, what kind of power supply you use with T-amp? If would start from there and look for regulated linear DC power supply of 13V, 3ASalvage electronic stores sell them for $20-30.
Another option - Chaintec AV710 card with optical output ($25), glass toslink ($20) and used Panasonic SA-XR10 (around $100 if you are lucky to fetch it on ebay)
