If I were ripping a large music collection, and I only wanted to rip it once, I'd use a program such as EAC in Secure Mode so I could be certain that I got the correct data the first time. I also recommend using a lossless format (you can always generate lossy files as needed, for low-storage-capacity devices such as older iPods).If you must use iTunes (I would never do such a thing, but I don't use a Macintosh), I supppose the Apple lossless format (why must they have their own lossless format?!?) is the way to go.
