Re: Infrant ReadyNAS NV and other PC audio related Q's

" ... My intent is to get a bigger drive and have it networked wirelessly. ..."

I never have quite figured out why folks want to do this: connect their storage wirelessly ... ??

None of the wireless scenarios are nearly as fast as direct EtherNet connections ... none are faster than built in ISA or SATA or external USB / FireWire / SATA / etc. ...

So why would you want to connect a hard drive wireless ??? ... especially if you might end up storing DV / DVD / HD video along with audio on the drive.

(Besides, with added internal drives, you dispense with all those extra wires, anyway.)

(Besides, with added external drives, you can power up from a single plug strip, locally, rather than two [or three] plug strips scattered about the listening room(s).)

(Besides, a remote wireless storage drive will be less secure = the neighbor kids can steal / hack / ruin your data.)

(Besides, there are several other very good reasons not to connect storage devices without wires ... handshaking, performance fopahs, data dropout ... )
