Thanx for your help. I am dipping my toes into building a music server and the soundcard in my Dell has a digital out that I feed to my DAC in my home audio system. However, it sounds like poop and I noticed that Windows media player can control the volume. This tells me the tools are manupulating the digital signal and I don't want this. This happens whether I am playing from a CD in my computer drive or from WMA files (ripped with Windows lossless). So, can anyone recomend a cheap soundcard that does what I want? Or is there more to what I want to do than I realize?
By the way, I am sending the signal to my Accuphase DP-67 which reads the data fine. Locks on with no problems. It just sounds horrible.
