It's mind boggling how much stuff is out there. The only thing I can compare it to is the "underground radio" of the late '60s, when FM radio was a kind of novelty and the stations were run by a bunch of hippies who did not commercialize the content much. Only instead of a few local stations, there's thousands from all over the world. It's great. I hope it lasts.Also I've found the sound quality compares favorably with FM in many cases, at least for rock and pop. With the dynamic range compression that so many FM stations are doing, it makes sense that that their sound could be worse than high bit rate streaming MP3.
Also, I have no television, and I used to get my news from web sites such as MSNBC and CNN. But now I get most of my news from the BBC internet radio (I'm in the U.S.). I find their position on the issues to be closer to my world view than the American news media.
