Yes, I'll probably get another transformer for the heater just to be safe. I'm using it for a preamp circuit and it's kinda overkill, but it's what I had on hand, only the heater supply isn't up to the task so I'm using a 5volt tap that's available.I guess it's the chemistry and physics of the metals that simply require the 6.3volts. I know 12volt spotlights will live shorter on lower voltages too, so something goes on at the optimum temperature that I just dont understand.
