Thanks, Ralph. Actually, the bass panels may not be as much of a problem as they seem. As delivered they are 4 ohms, true. But after examining the things I realized they are wired in parallel. A quick call to Magnepan confimed that they can be series connected for 16 ohms! Much better for an OTL. But, first things first.
I was surprised that your M-60 design does well using 6SN7's in a cascode and for drivers. I know the tube has a reputation for excellent sound, but I thought its low transconductance would make for a poor cascode. I also didn't think it could be a truly high current CF, but obviously it performs well in both aplications since the amp is legendary.
