On the one hand, that (1.2A fuse) does not sound big enough. In theory, it would blow when the speaker draws a little more than 12W (P = I[squared]*R, where I = 1.2A and R = presumed 8-ohm speaker impedance). On the other hand, a fuse is an all or nothing connection, so I cannot figure out why it is causing a loss of "dynamics". Of course, if you have high-impedance speakers (>>8 ohms) that are very efficient, this could account for the apparent fact that you are not blowing fuses all the time. Seems like you could safely use a heftier fuse. Also, as I mentioned to you privately, I recently treated my fuses and fuse-holders with Walker Audio SST contact enhancer, to good effect.
