On the right shelf (or wrong!) the T8 will hum and it will sound like it's coming out of a speaker. The test is to pick up the front of the amp so the forward feet don't touch anything and see if the quality of the hum changes. If so, it's purely mechanical and you can do damping things to solve the problem. Believe me, if the chassis is on a good 60-120 Hz sounding board it will show you how good an omnidirectional speaker can work.
