Seeking sum of wisdom on microZotl

OTL, Output Transformerless Amplifier User Group.

I'm toying with the purchase of a David Berning microZotl for use in my office system. Research here and elsewhere tells me it makes a fine, transparent headphone amp, albeit with leaner, less tube-like sound than one might expect. I'm less clear about:
1. Speaker matching. David reckons the unit will drive just about anything for non-headbanging applications. Even so, I'd be interested in any user experiences. What speakers work well/less well in practice? Half a watt isn't much power to play with, even by SET standards.
2. microZotl as a preamp. Has anyone tried this?
