If I got this right... I haven't stayed up on digital
technologies... but my understanding is that most of the
current crop of DAC's have balanced outputs... so that if
you want take the signal off the dac... a trans like the
XT-3 might be useful since it has a center tapped primary
winding while the secondary is single ended.Did I get this right???
the other application I keep thinking about... is that you
could use it as an input transformer... assuming your source
impedance is low enough (say under 100 or 50 ohms or something)...
as a transformer buffered volume control like in the Ingot. You
would need to use a 50K pot (or attenuator) which should not
be so difficult... I'm pretty certain PEC makes a 50K pot in both
mono and stereo versions. The above strategy might be interesting... heck these trans at these
prices should be in your spare parts\experimental box of goodies...if you wired the suckers in series as an autoformer... you would have
more L than some of the other "grid chokes" I've seen being sold in
the marketplace.all I need is for Steve Eddy to put up a photo... of "save this dog"
kind of post. But seriously... for experimental purposes these guys could potentially
be used in a wide range of different applications.
