Here is the post on the EL84 version. I modified it slightly since this schematic, I'm now using mercury rectifiers.As good as the EL84 is, the the 813 with RS-500 is significantly better, even at its current "low power" implementation I can really hear the difference in increased power cabability. I like listening to big choral pieces which have a huge dynamic range. With the EL84 things get strained at the peaks, with this its just so effortless.
What I found works the best is to put the speaker on the 16 ohm configuration, this way in the bass (which is about 16 ohms in my enclosures) you get the full power output which is where you need it. In the midrange it presents 2.5K to the amp so there is less maximum power available, but it doesn't matter there. With this configuration I can get away with a 50H plate choke.
