You're close. Very close. The bell is a resonator like any of the other audiophile resonators - tiny little bowl acoustic resonators made of gold or silver, Tibetan temple bowls, Tibetan temple bells, tiny ceramic bowls, crystals in general, Synergistic Research resonators of various types, Mpingo discs from Shun Mook and others. The method of operation varies from sympathetic vibration to pressure zone equalization to RF dissipation. In order to improve the sound rather than degrade it resonators must be carefully placed in the room.
