Beltian effects

We have but only two avenues available to us to change the sound of our audio systems:

1) Make changes in the system/room

2) Make changes in the listener


We simply tend to dismiss the latter as something of less value than the former because it can't be commoditized and isn't necessarily fungible.

I suspect Beltian effects manifest in the listener(s), not the electronics. I see nothing insidious about that, although I do (like others) tend to value my money differently when considering these things.
