Re: LAB Horn Subwoofer

"Hi all,
I've been interested in this concept for a while now, although I still dont know enough about basshorns to make a decision myself.

In particular, there's been a LOT of discussion on this forum about the LAB horn, especially between Tom Danley and Wayne Parham.

Too much information to process! At this stage, anyway. So I'd like to ask just a couple of questions.

What -3db point can I expect from the Lab Horn, with no EQ etc. And what -3db point can I expect when corner loaded? "

...for how many Labs? Just one will not work properly unless you load it right into the corner 1/8 space and have strong walls. You will need 2 labs 1/4 space, or 4 labs 1/2 space (in theory)...

"What maximum SPL can I expect from ~25Hz to 100Hz? And how linear is the system? "

....go to live-audio.com, and post there for the additional info. If Tom chimes in, then you are all set ....

"BTW: I'd like to know how a horn can increase the power handling. I've read on this forum that the electrical impedance is raised, or something, then I closed the webpage accidently and could not remember what it was :( "

...I think Tom posted recently regarding the bassmaxx here. Type in tomservo and have fun.

Anyway, I appreciate any comments!

Cheers
Adrian
