Upgrading Klipsch KG.5 Speakers

Hello Everyone,

I have a couple questions. These speakers are not very high efficiency, but this seemed the best place to post. For fun, I am upgrading a pair of the small Klipsch KG.5 speakers with new capacitors and titanium tweeter diaphragms.

First, I would like to know whether the Crites diaphragms are the best, or whether any of the cheaper options are good or about similar.

Second, I would like to replace the original spring clip speaker connectors (one of which has a problem) with binding post units. I have the type from Parts Express with a sufficiently large mounting plate to cover the entire area where the spring clips have been located. The problem is that the spring clip assembly appears to be "welded" into the plastic. Only the solder connections protrude. Is it best to use a Dremel tool or just pick it out?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Best wishes,
David
