You don't mention ceiling height, what smallish means to you and price range; however, given your other room dimensions, listening distance, and volume preference, you should have lots of options. Don't expect low bass, but you should be able to get dynamics, magical mid-range and detail and un-etched highs. Some thoughts:

Even a Spendor 3/5e might work (I use them w/ 2 stage 2A3s in small study)
