Gear Page's V-Type finds Peavey's Scorpion handles power like an Electro Voice, whilst voiced like Celestion's GT-100 (tight bass & slightly recessed mids). Similar to Mesa/Boogie's MC-90 driver; although MC-90s are "only" 90 watts (tis personal preference in Peavey Transformer 112 over stock Blue Marvel). On Telecaster.com, Dacious utilized "a pair in 2-way 12" P.A. cabs & they take 200 watts a side with crystal clarity & show no signs of distress". He found them similar in sound quality to E.V. Eliminator cabs, with 97% efficiency. Scorpion Ultras were stock drivers in Peavey's Triumph 120 combo amp, which was Peavey's answer to Mesa Rectifiers. Tele.com's Deaf Eddie noted 'twas Peavey-badged CTS speakers which gave Peavey speakers in general a bad rap. Transformer designer John Fera uses a Peavey Sheffield 1230 in his 112, with Weber Beam blocker, for live gigs. 73s para Sactown !!!
