Phasing horn with a woofer

70.82.103.141

What's the best way to do mechanical phasing of a horn with a woofer.

I have an Onken with an Altec 416-8A . For 600hz and up. I use an Altec 288c coupled to a 1005B horn.

Some peoples told me that the phasing in a typical woofer is taken near 1/3 of it's outside deph (from the accordeon suspension) Is it right ?

For a compression driver like the 288C coupled with to a 1005 B multicell, Where do I take the measurement (phasing point) to align the horn with the woofer ?

If it is near the diaphragm, the horn will be a lot in front ot the cabinet.

My electronic crossover is a 12 db/oct. The polarity of the horn is inversed.

Thanks
