Home High Efficiency Speaker Asylum

Need speakers that can rock with just one watt? You found da place.

a Radio Shack 40-1197/FE-103 question

As fate and other stochastic processes would have it, I have a mis-matched pair of (very) small enclosures containing early (albeit ceramic-magnet) versions of the venerable R/S 40-1197 (also labeled "FE-103", as in Fostex). One of these enclosures is backless. The other contains a network consisting of a big honking air-core inductor, a very large, oil-filled cap, and a power resistor. The resistor is across the cap terminals. The inductor (and the speaker wires) are not connected. One speaker was found at my own town dump in MA. The other came to me from a friend in CT.

I do believe this was a well-known/published enclosure design with either a Zobel network or a BSC(?) Does anyone know? Even better, does anyone have a schematic of the network?

I can post photos of these if anyone's interested enough.

Thanks.

all the best,
mrh
