If you look JBL used them down to 6500k in the L65 Jubal with a 12db network. In the original Everest its a 12db at 7500Hz. In the 4344/45 they used 18db @ 9khz. You might want to switch to 12db but depending on how much power you feed them?? The response drops off below 6K as it is so driving them harder than you need to below that doesn't make too much sense. You don't want to unnecessarily fatigue the diaphragms at $100 a pop. About the worst thing that can happen is you will just have to pony up for another pair of diaphragms earlier than you would have using steeper slopes.
