GC---Altec highs are somewhat rolled off, no doubt of that. Though actually no more rolled off than those from the EV tweeter that Klipsch used.Altecs will make nice extended highs if you use a crossover that has an EQ circuit that pushes down the extra and usually unneeded midrange energy in order to flatten out the overall response. Altec used several such crossovers in the 1970s in the "teens" series--models Fourteen through Nineteen. My Model Nineteens have more extended highs than other Altecs I've owned.
There are plans out there on the net for such crossovers, do a search at the unofficial Altec forum.
