I also run the Super 3r for my computer room speakers and you are right, they are thin with the SI amp. However, there is plenty of bass with my Decware ZEN amp. I had a sub under the desk but did'nt need it. I concur about the Altecs, but would also suggest the Jensen or EV coax of that time. For a small room any one of them would do just fine. Cheers.
