I'm in the same situation as you, 416 woofer, 511/808 combination and no x-over. Using the online calcs and the components on hand, I was able to experiment with numerous configurations, all 1st order, all between 800hz and and 1500hz. The horn has been padded down by about 6db.
None of the x-overs based on the online calcs sounded very good. Almost all of them produced a thick, congested mid-range.
What I've settled on for time being is very simple 1st order x-over, 1mh inductor on the woofer, 8mfd oil cap on the horn, with the appropriate padding on the horn.
Not sure what the x-over point is, but it sounds good to my ears, very dynamic, musical, captivating, and without the mid-range congestion and peakiness that characterized the x-overs derived from on-line calcs.
Cheers
