Hiyo FB; Read your post yesterday. Still looking for 4001 notch’os. Have some circuits that you could try.If it was gapmucked, it would scream, not honk. Lots of breakup. Do you know if ferrofluid [Aarugh! Shudder!] was used?
Has the bugscreen been removed? [NOT a good idea in the 4001]
Have you tried inserting any mechanical damping into front of horn? E.g. — acoustic lenses, open cell foam, copper scouring pad (Chore Gal?) or even loosely compressed pantyhose? [Yes, I’m serious.]
There are good suggestions here. I like big 2-Watt carbon comps for attenuation-less ‘harsh’ IMHO. Some have reported success using sand cast R’s.
BUT, don’t start voicing until PP 2A3 in place.
