Hello,If the 4001 shout on your system, there is a few things to check :
1-is attenuation high enough ? Shouting may occurs when compression driver plays louder than midbass. I used to have the same trouble, lacking of trebbles I push the level of the compression, equalization is better...
2-maybe the power amplifier is not able to manage the impedance curve of the driver loaded by the horn. You should try another power amp just to check it...if you use valves, try solid state if not try valves.
3-don't forget that the sound you ear is maybe 20% direct and 80% reverbed by the room, most horns delivers much more midrange to the room than trebble (directivity patterns show this), depending of the room and the listener position you can get too much midrange from the driver wich oftenly results as "shout"do you have some photos of your installation ? How do you crossover drivers ? Wich is your power amp ?
best regards
Marc
