2.5mh is a safe use for steel laminate cores (they recommend below 3000hz)-- i love my sledgehammers on altec 414's crossed at about 1300hz-- never found much truth to the notion that they 'cause more distortion than copper foils'.. plus.. lower dcr is nice too-- less drain on the system! AND they're not extremely expensive from madisound!d
